We were walking around the Cal State Northridge Campus recently with Estella when we were suddenly bombarded with this inconsiderate and highly offensive t-shirt worn by a white student on campus.
The T-shirt reads "Obama you my nigga!".
In the name of all that is holy and sacred... If we think that any type of racism or social labeling structure has been defeated, then we should expect to become blind victims.
...Interestingly enough, he had the audacity to question why we were offended.

This is exactly why I am SICK and TIRED of the Hip Hop Generation's cavalier attitude towards the use of the N Word. This shirt is a blatant example of disrespect that other groups take on because of our own disregard for self/group respect. We make it okay to be called nigga (notice his shirt doesn’t have the “er” everyone is so sure makes a difference in the meaning of the word) when we call each other nigga. We make it okay to be called nigga when we sell our music, an aspect of our culture, to non-africans, when nigga is said every other word. We sell our self-respect, self-worth and racial pride with every soundscan and itunes purchase. We also sell our right for outrage because we did it to ourselves. No one but an oppressor needs a label or a word of oppression. “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house”-Audre Lorde GIVE IT BACK!
No business! I attest to what Patrice has said in terms of we making it ok for others to call eachother "Nigga" with our consistent use of the word and the fact that we can eliminate it from our vocabulary!
I am so sick and tired of talking about the word "nigga and nigger." It seems that we always arrive at a "fork in the road" with this debate.
You have those that think that the word is not important to argue over and we should be dealing with other issues that affect our community. He got those that think that "nigga and nigger" are two different words. You got those that think that it's ok for Black people to say it because we own it but not ok for others to say it. It goes on and on.....
No one should be wearing a stupid shirt like this with the next president of the United States on it. It is not cute or cool. I am sicken.....
