Women's History Month 2010: "Writing Women Back into History"

Since 1911, March has been recognized as Women's History Month.

This year the International theme is "Writing Women Back Into History". Seeing that we write and have a venue to voice concern, The Golden Machine has been dedicated to recognizing women who are often forgotten in HIStory.

Mark Anthony Neal challenges men, specifically Black men, to gain a new understanding of the plight of the ever-continuing women's suffrage movement. His theories on the "New Black Man" as a Black-male-feminist archetype bring to mind the idea that women will not be wholly righted until men understand how they have been wronged.

So look out for more phenomenal women throughout the month of March and leave comments about some of your favorites exclusively on The Golden Machine.

For now, enjoy Maya Angelou reading her masterpiece "Phenomenal Woman":
